"Being a scholar isn't everything" [A.K.A. Blog Number 6]
Ken Robinson explains that society in our days [And since 19th Century] have always valorated more “intelligence” over “Creativity”. Why is that? Because the begining of the educational system: It was in the middle of the Industrial Revolution an the only thing that matter at the time was to have a job and “to be someone” out of the factories [He dind’t say with that words… But I like to think that he wanted tos ay somthing like that].
Since then, every school in every country has followed this system and stigmatized creativity as some kind of “disease”, “lack of intelligence” or “failure”. So children is afraid to be wrong in what they do and try to adapt to what schools are “educating” for –as Robinson says- a University Professor. [That doesn’t seem to be “that bad”, right? Well, if you put in the same words as he does sounds terribly bad … People who tends only in their heads “and a Little to the side” and there’s no room to be “happy” or “fun” (Could you say that only write papers is fun?)]
Finally, he concludes his presentation with an “advice” [Something we all should to consider] calling us to reevaluate the way we educate [Because education is in school, but also in every men and women’s home] our children and we guide them for the best way they can go and don’t forcé them to “the only way we think it’s the best.”
[I hope this review makes some sense]
My Blogging Experience [A.K.A. Blog Session 8]
“The end is near” and because of that we [the members of the english class] have to write about “our blogging experience” and that’s exactly what I’m going to do [I don’t like to keep in “one style of writing” so, maybe the style will change… but I hope you can follow the way I write]:
I must say that it was a pretty nice idea, and I’m sure that if we did’t have “tha strike” we would do a lot more and, of course, advance in our goal: To learn english. So, you know, I like the idea… But Did I enjoy it? Well… I must admit that I was really lazy about this. The main reason of that is because I had “more important things to do”, but don’t get me wrong I like to learn english but this year I wanted to raise my marks in the “obligatory courses” so I dedicated more time and efforts to that… Yes, I know it’s a bad thing tos ay when your teacher is Reading this but truth could be ugly, but it’s a lot better tan a pretty lie… don’t you think?... Oh, but back to the point. I REALLY enjoyed this experience.
Someone in the audience: But Carlos you haven’t told us why did you enjoy it?
Oh right… That. It’s an interactive way to learn this language, because we need to write like if it was our diary… so it was an “informal” way to speak [And this is the most common way to speak with an American, English, Australian or people from othe countries. So… in some way this experience help you out to improve your english writing and Reading it… Helping you to increase your vocabulary, punctuation, and ehm… Other important stuff xD].
I think that should do.
The same guy: Yeah, that’s good.
Ehm… To conclude this entry I will cover 2 improtant points: Advantages and Disadvantages about bloggin in the class
First we have the advantages, we could interact with the other students [We had included in the first tasks to comment other people’s entries] and even more important, we can improve our writing abilities [In the near future we will need to redact contracts or other things in english and we can’t afford a failure].
Now, the disadvantages… Well, I don’t see “a lot of them”, but the main one is [And maybe the main disadvantage of the coruse in general] the time slot where is located [17:10 PM is really late to a class… Even more when you need to wait for 4 hours to your class] Dx
Well I hope you enjoyed this blog as much as I enjoyed to write it.
[Maybe I’ll keep it and start a real blog… You know, commenting about my dairy life and other things]
Take Care.

The Best in my Area (IMO)
After thinking a lot, I got to an Enrique Barros' book: 'Tratado de Responsabilidad Extracontractual'. And I though "Man, this guy is awesome." So, for your enjoyment I chose Enrique Barros Bourie. 'Who is he?' may you ask, but don't worry I'll tell you now: Enrique Barros Bourie is a lawyer (Duh!) from Universidad de Chile (Where he also teaches Civil Law). He earned a law degree in Germany and now he serves on the board of Centro de Estudios Públicos.
Barros, has written many (many many many) papers, articles, essays and a book (The one I named before). As a lawyer, I really don't know if he has done "anything important" But he's an eminence as teacher... And that's why I chose him... Thanks to him and his book a learned how to understand an important part of Civil Law: The damages. (I guess that I told What has he done and why I like him, but if I didn't I like him because all the knoledge that he acquired on the years and how he took that and put it on a book in an easy and didactical way... I guess that sounds pretty bad, "I don't like him. I like his book" but that's what I think... Because I haven't find a model to follow D=).
Yeah, I've spoken a little about him because what a really like is his book D=
About his Book:
He explain the nature of damages (Pecuniary Damage and Moral damage), how it has been applied in other countries legislation and how chilean courts understand it and how apply it.
Plus, if you need to find something on the book and if you don't know where it is, the book includes a "tematical index" (I don't know if that's the name... but I think it sounds just fine. Anyway, the index is ordered by subject [And not by page like a regular index]
Well... That's all I have to say about him (and his book, of course) so, until next time.

BLOG TASK 4 {Or is it 5?}

This time it’s a Little bit complicated for me… I don’t like to look at pictures. But I’m going to do a HUGE effort and select one picture that I find interesting:
Who took it?
I’m not sure if I did or she did (the girl on the picture) but one thing is sure, some of us took it! We took at my house when we were absolutely bored… In fact we have a whole set of pictures of things we found near… We grab the camera and started to take pictures of the carpet, my PC, my TV, books, shoes, curtains… everything!
What it shows?
That’s me at this point maybe it’s a little obvious, right?
The girl next to me is my girlfriend (I won’t tell her name just to keep the mystery :P). We’ve been together for 4 years (Our anniversary is today actually. So I better go fast a look for a gift or something) she’s a really nice girl. Well I haven’t asked her if I can talk about her here so I’ll stop it.
When it was taken?
I can’t remember when it was taken. In fact I forget that kind of data just like that. I don’t know why, but it seems I’m not good with dates. So if I don’t write them down it is REALLY probable that I won’t remember it when someone asks me. D=
Why you like it?
Like I said previously I’m not the kind of guy who sits to look at pictures or anything, but in this case I think I like it just because it’s remember me happy times and nice situations. Okay, I know that it’s a mistake to select a picture with your girlfriend because when you broke up you’ll need to delete it or at least keep it somewhere you can’t find it easily (That doesn’t sounds good… Does it? Don’t get me wrong am not planning on break up with her but that kind of things happens. And to some people… A LOT)
Note: I don’t have the picture at the moment but I promise that I’ll upload it as soon as I can.
Note2: Yes, I have a real girlfriend. She’s not a cardboard figure or anything. She’s a real girl and she’s my friend.

Blog Task 5 {Where‘s number 4?!}
It’s really curious that we had to do this tasks backwards. First “Blog Task 5” and after that, number 4… Anyway, I posted them a long time ago, so I dind’t needed to do them again xD
Today’s entry it’s about “my career”, I mean, why I am studying this and many other things that I’m about to answer (Just for you, my dear people):
1.- Why are you studying this career?
When I was on school (Highschool maybe), we used to have many students from different careers who told us about their careers (Like “Career day” or something like that). One of those times, some people fron “Ministerio Pùblico” (Ministerio público it’s like “District Attorney Office” on the US) who told us about what their were doing at the time (It was really “hard times” no one knew what they were doing, so they had to explain to EVERYONE who were they and what they wanted).
What do professionals in your area contribute to society?
Lawyers represent people on court. This means we can help people to protect their rights from abusive conducts.
- What tools will a professional in your area need to have in the future?
We need to understand “client’s language”, with this I mean clients have different jobs and because of that they used different Words for the same things or the same words for different things, but not only that… Sometimes we could represent clints from another countries and we need to speak their language (Or english, which is an international language) too. Also, we need to know about the law (We don’t need {And we can’t} learn every law in existance but at least we need to know the most common used laws or where they are in the different codex).
- What is your favourite subject?
My favourite subject is Civil Law. Civil law it’s the “angular Stone” from our career. If you don’t like Criminal Law (When you find that you don’t like to see dead people, rapes, or another crimes) then you can go to “the light side of the law” (That is an OBVIOUS reference to Star Wars BTW). Contracts, family law and almost every act in a person life is regulated by Civil Laws.
EDIT: Can I upload future tasks done?

¿Which class should I take?
Well, I'm here to present you the most AWESOME site for every law student [If you're in the Universidad de Chile... But if you're from another one, that's fine too.]: "WIKIDERECHO"
For me it was really easy to find [When I was in first or second year] every door, wall and window had signs tha said "Wikiderecho.cl" [Even in the bathrooms were a lot of that signs... I think that was a liitle too much]. Anyway, like I was saying I saw this signs/stickers/whatever and I got curious so I went to the closest computer available and typed the page... It was the greatest idea [at least for the moment], it was a public encyclopedia about our classes and our techers... It allows you to choose more wisely when you have to take a course.
Even better, this page works on the basis of "Web 2.0". This means that we - the users of the page- are also "contributors" because we can modify or add articles when there isn't one or elements or opinions to the existing articles. It's the best option when you need to know about more about your teachers o classes [Like how are the test, marks o teachers personality or anything you need]
[I recommend this site: I use it all the time... Sometimes because I need help in finding a good teacher or just for fun when I'm bored]
And now that you are a little more aware of great web pages, I proceed to leave to the Batcave and fight crime like only HEROS -like myself- can do. Hiyaa!
